摘要:Heat transfer characteristics of cylindrical bluff bodyfinds importance in the design of thermal systems.For a heated cylinder, flow becomes complicated due to developed buoyancy forces.Contamination of the thermalbuoyancy in low Reynolds number forced flow significantly influencesthe wake dynamics, flow field and heattransfer.Cross-section of the cylindrical body also decides heat transfer from the body. Heated circular and squarecross-section bluff-bodies are mostly studied. Heated triangular cross-section cylinder has very limited availableliterature. Present paper first discusses the fundamental terms related to the effect of thermal buoyancy on the fluidflow around cylindrical bluff-bodies. Then the paper reviews recent literature for the flow past a triangular crosssectioncylinderin mixed convection regime considering the effect of buoyancy. The review has been presented forcross-buoyancy, aiding-buoyancy and opposing-buoyancy flow configurations. Effect of buoyancy parameter i.e.Richardson number (Ri) on Struohal number, drag coefficient, lift coefficient, critical Reynolds number,local andaveraged Nusselt number have been discussed.Effect of Richardson number on the flow field has been illustrated byinstantaneous streamlines.
