摘要:Fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics of bluff bodies of different cross-sections have been studiedby researches due manyengineering applications e.g. in electronics cooling, heat exchangers, nuclear reactors and flowdividersetc. Circular and square cross-section bluff-bodies are mostly studied. Triangular cross-section cylinderhowever being a potential vortex generator has very limited available literature. Present paper first discusses thefundamental aspects and terms related to the fluid flow and heat transfer around bluff-bodies in general. Then the paperreviews recent literature for the flow past a triangular cross-section cylinder. The review has been presentedconsideringthe effect of five variables e.g Reynolds number, blockage ratio, geometrical orientation, aspect ratio, and prandtlnumber on the flow and heat transfer parameters. Struohal number (St), drag coefficient, lift coefficient, criticalReynolds number,local and averaged Nusselt number have been discussed.Flow and thermal field have been illustratedby instantaneous streamlines, vorticity contours, and isotherms.
