Designed to be career preparation, the curriculumin the diplomas struck an importance balance of CriminalJustice and Criminology curriculum, skills developmentand experiential learning. !is mix was maintained andexpanded in the launch of the Bachelor of Applied JusticeStudies degree in 1999. !e Bachelor of Art in CriminalJustice was approved in 2008 in anticipation of Mount RoyalCollege’s imminent transition to university status. However, some of the changes associated with gaining university statusin 2009 are informing a current reevaluation of the curricu-lum within the degree.
