摘要：It is widely known that social policies in most part of Europe have beendeeply affected, in the last decade, by a series of austerity measures put inplace by policy makers in order to comply with the new goals of optimisingpublic resources and cutting welfare expenditure where they were seenas too generous. The recession experienced by many countries in Europe,after the start of the economic crisis in 2008, accelerated and exacerbatedsome international policy trends, claiming for more control over theraising welfare state costs and more limitation of public intervention. Asthe portion of welfare resources absorbed by pension, health and social carepolicies for older people was highly significant in all European countries,it was a natural consequence that austerity would have put the socialprotection system around older people under pressure.
