摘要：This study aims to see the impact of learning community on Japanese reading learning model through contextual approach. The subjects of the study are emerging readers in the first semester class of Japanese language education department at Jakarta State University. As the result, it found that collaborative reading as one of learning community had helped students to overcome their excessive anxiety of identifying various Japanese letters, understanding the reading, and solving problems. It also helped them to increase their reading speed and reading comprehension ability.
