摘要:There is no doubt that in initial stages of second language learning, teachers' roles as immediate sources of guidance is very crucial. Teachers'roles in shaping language learners' second language knowledge is very determinant in English as a foreign language (EFL) context where most of the language learners wait to be fed up by the teachers. It goes without saying that a teacher must possess knowledge to be successful in developing successful language learners. However, it is often unclear what this knowledge truly encompasses. Accordingly, it is clear that all language teachers must possess knowledge of: the subjects to be taught, the skills to be developed, general and subject-specific methods for teaching and for evaluating student learning, and skills in effectively teaching students. In the same line, the present paper aims at considering the essential factors that should be taken into consideration by language teachers as basic requirements for becoming a successful teacher.
