标题：Efectos del barrido de membranas en la inducción del parto en embarazos a término

摘要：The objective of the research was to establish the effect of membrane sweeping in the induction of labor in term pregnancies. A randomized prospective study was conducted between June 2015 and April 2017 at Hospital Central "Dr. Urquinaona", Maracaibo, Venezuela, in term pregnant women assigned to group A (cases - membrane sweeping) or group B (Controls - gynecological examination without sweeping). The general characteristics, obstetric and perinatal outcome were evaluated. A total of 463 pregnant women considered for the study, 233 patients were assigned to group A and 230 patients were assigned to group B. No statistically significant differences were found in maternal age, gestational age at the time of examination, body mass index, Bishop score at the time of examination and nulliparity frequency between both groups (p = ns). Patients in group A had an interval gynecological examination -delivery similar to those in group B (p = 0.0654). The frequency of spontaneous labor was also similar between groups (p = 0.4023). No significant differences were found in the frequency of vaginal delivery, maternal infection, premature rupture of membranes or genital bleeding (p = ns). There were also no differences in newborn´s birth weight and other variables of neonatal outcome (p = ns). It is concluded that the membrane sweeping has not effects in the induction of labor in term pregnant women.
