摘要:The objective of the research was to establish the association between decreased fetal movements and perinatal outcome in term pregnancies. A prospective investigation was carried out on women with single pregnancy attended at the Hospital Central "Dr. Urquinaona ", Maracaibo, estado Zulia. Patients with decreased fetal movements were assigned to a study group (group A) and compared with pregnant women who presented normal fetal movements (group B, controls). Maternal characteristics, resulting and perinatal deaths were evaluated. A total of 643 pregnant women were selected, of which 93 patients (14.4%) were assigned to group A, and compared to 550 pregnant controls (group B). No significant differences were found in maternal age, body mass index, and nulliparity frequency among patients in both groups (p = ns). The mean gestational age of the decreased fetal movements’ appearance in group A was at 35.9 +/- 2.0 weeks and duration of decreased fetal movements was 44.0 +/- 18.2 hours. No significant differences were found in newborn weight, perinatal outcome, and deaths (p = ns). Patients in group A presented a higher frequency of cesarean section than patients in group B (p < 0.0001). It is concluded that patients with decreased fetal movements are submitted to a greater number of interventions but have a perinatal outcome similar to pregnant women normal pregnant movements.
