  • 摘要:The essential oil of mentha suaveolens L, was obtained by hydrodistillation andmicrowave, This oil was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The analysis of mentha suaveolensL oil showed that the major components dtermined by hydrodistillation and Microwavewere Piperitenone oxyde (59.3%,73.5%), trans-Caryophyllene (3.7%,3.5%), GermacreneD (3.5%,5.6%), Terpinen-4-ol (3.4 %,1.1%), Nepetalactone (3.2%,0.7%), and p-Cymen-8-ol (2.6%,0.7%), E-hydrate Sabinene (1.6%,2.3%) respectively. Chemometric analysis,including principal component (PCA) was used to determine the best extraction techniqueto obtain such an element. The mentha suaveolens L essential oil (MSLEO) has beenevaluated as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution by means ofweight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). Tafel polarization study revealed that mentha suaveolens L essential oil (MSLEO)acts as a mixed type inhibitor with predominantly cathodic effect. Adsorption of theinhibitor on the mild steel surface followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
