摘要:The important features of wavelet transform and different methods in compression of fingerprint imageshave been implemented. Image quality is measured objectively using peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) andmean square error (MSE).A comparative study using discrete cosine transform based Joint PhotographicExperts Group(JPEG) standard , wavelet based basic Set Partitioning in Hierarchical trees(SPIHT) andModified SPIHT is done. The comparison shows that Modified SPIHT offers better compression than basicSPIHT and JPEG. The results will help application developers to choose a good wavelet compressionsystem for their applications.
