摘要:How is digital media used to design and implement continuing education offerings? How open are continuing education institutions to digitalization and how do they use it to innovatively enhance traditional learning opportunities? To make progress in finding answers to these questions, a comprehensive survey was introduced in spring 2016 at the request of the NRW State institute for Schools and Further Education. All public interestoriented adult education institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) were invited to participate. This article reports on this survey, presents the findings from the needs assessment and provides insight into the qualification measure „Workshop ? New Formats? Digital Continuing Education“ developed after the survey findings. This measure should support adult education instructors in designing digital formats for continuing education at their own institutions while making a contribution to the discussion of educational policy. According to the authors, digital strategies need to be developed based on the experiences and strengths of traditional adult education, not as an alternative to its offerings. The instructors that were surveyed apparently do not lack qualifications in terms of content, professional motivation and curiosity about new formats. (Ed.)
