摘要：This is the second Forum in which anthropologists give voice to a disciplinary ancestral figure of their choice. The goal is to bring to our attention the wisdom of anthropologists who were prominent at one time in the history of our discipline but whose work has fallen out of fashion or perhaps simply been buried beneath the accumulated scholarly production of their successors. Listening to these voices reminds us that however much scholarly fashions change, there are core issues that have preoccupied us for two centuries and that remain central to our work.
