摘要：The International Medical Information Center (IMIC) has provided full-text manual searches of Japanese journals to various organizations and medical professionals since 1972, when IMIC was established. This paper outlines manual searches, the standards for selecting papers, and the advantages/disadvantages of manual searches. It also explains services provided on the basis of manual searches, such as “SELIMIC (Side Effects Literature in IMIC)”, “Assistance of database constructions for pharmaceutical companies”, “Quick document delivery of drug information”. IMIC will begin to subscribe to foreign electronic journals in 1999, These journals will be used as a trial service for exploring the possibilities of appropriate full-text retrieval for selection of foreign papers that users request.
