摘要:Oil meal, which is used as a feed, is a byproduct of food oil production, and knowledge on Salmonella contamination in oil meal is essential in the hygiene management of domestic animals. Moreover, the rapid on-site detection of Salmonella is necessary. Thus, in the present study, we aimed to investigate a rapid detection method for Salmonella present in oil meal. When selecting appropriate media, the number of bacterial cells was significantly higher ( p <0.001) in MP than in other media, such as buffered peptone water, after 7-hr incubation. Prior to DNA analysis using the QUALIBAX™ system, QuickGene-Mini80 filtration of samples contributed to improved sensitivity of the system. Thus, the combined use of MP medium, QuickGene-Mini80 purification, and the QUALIBAX™ DNA analysis system allowed for the rapid detection of Salmonella in oil meal.
