摘要：In March 2016, the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) established Rules for English Translationof Japanese Geographical Names on maps and Map Expressions for Overseas Visitors as standards to create maps ofJapan which are easier to read by foreign visitors. This is in part to help establish the nation as an Advanced TourismCountry, as well as to prepare for the Olympic and Paralympic Games that are to take place in Tokyo in 2020. Thisarticle outlines the discussion process, summarizes the standards that were set up, and describes the way to familiarizethe public with these standards
