摘要:The visual modality is used from birth to acquire new skills in all areas, to understand the world around us and act appropriately. For this reason a visual deficit is a significant risk for a disorder of cognitive, motor and social development. The deleterious effects of a visual deficit are more severe when it occurs early in life. Meanwhile, it is now known that patients with cognitive impairment and interaction disorders also present visual deficits with a greater occurrence than typical subjects. This article describes both cognitive and social development deficits in patients with visual deficits as well as visual deficits in patients with cognitive and social development deficits. This dual approach allows to consider the potential link between all of these conditions and underlines the need for systematic screening and rehabilitation of visual deficits in all at risk children.
