摘要:The ever growing needs of securing sensitive datain the presence of attackers and intruders has always been anexisting issue of concern. Bio-cryptography is a new andembryonic field that combines cryptography with biometrics.The use of biometric traits in cryptography is a novel andpromising area of research. The creation of a stableencryption key is one of the key challenges of biocryptography.A new cryptographic key generation methodusing dual finger vein images is proposed in this paper. Thisnew approach not only simplifies the key generation processbut also reduces the complexity involved in a traditionalcryptosystem. Finger vein is a hidden biometric trait thatresides underneath the skin surface which is invisible to thenaked eye. The desirable characteristics of finger vein such asuniversality, distinctiveness, permanence and acceptabilitymakes it a suitable biometric for the key generation process.Cryptographic key generated from the biometric template ofan individual can be used as a personal key to encrypt anddecrypt the information for secure transmission.Cryptographic keys of different sizes can be generated usingthis method with minimal amount of time complexity andspace complexity. These keys can be used in many real timeapplications for secure data transmission
