摘要：Non-traditional security, often abbreviated as NTS, is a popular but rather ambiguous concept within and outside academic circles. The NTS threats and challenges are always referred to in the context of human security to focus on the security of individuals, societies and groups, which includes criminality, environmental degradation — energy, natural disasters, infectious disease and illegal migration etc. These threats and challenges are not within the scope of more traditional military concerns; these can be facilitated by non-traditional security measures; such as applying technological tools to overcome them. This paper explores the role of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) as a tool to facilitate non-traditional security threats and challenges.
