摘要:This article reports on the results of a research project developed by teachers from the Foreign Languages Department of Universidad Nacional de Colombia with the aim of determining the circumstances that characterize the monograph projects carried out by students of the major of Philology and Languages - English, French, German - between 2000 and 2003 to opt for their professional degree. We followed the principles of a qualitative case study with a group of undergraduate and graduated students, and teachers from the major. We identified the reasons that motivate students to work on specific topics, their experiences when doing the monograph projects, and the relationship between these and the internal and external fields of action. The results indicate that the development of these projects implies undertaking a journey. The study helped us infer implications with respect to formative research, the curriculum, the pedagogical practices, the regulations of the university and its infrastructure.
