摘要:Abst racks : The purpose of the research: (1) to describe understanding of field-independent students in problem solving of group concept proof. (2) to describe understanding of field-dependent students in problem solving of group concept proof. The research subjects are 4 students, consists of 2 field-independent students and 2 field-dependent students. The data collecting method are interview and port folio. The research is carried out for one year. Research analysis applies qualitative approach toward the obtained responds.The understanding of the field-independent students on solving proof problem: (i) showing related concepts although the concepts are not presented on the test text, (ii) problem solving plan uses definition, (iii) explaining steps in detail from the steps accomplished, (iv) checking is done to the obtained result and the steps accomplished. The understanding of the field-dependent student in solving proof problem: (i) showing data on the test text, (ii) accomplishment uses group definition, (iii) problem solving is done in sequence but not in detail, (iv) re-checking is done on the steps accomplished and the result obtained. The detail understanding will be explained in article.
