摘要:In this article, I reflect on the theoretical and methodological implications of conducting research among children in ethnomusicology. I present the main historic paradigms that currently lead studies concerned with ethnomusicology among children, to discuss afterwards, within the context of a music ethnography I am undertaking among the Mbyá-Guarani children in an indigenous land (Grande Porto Alegre, RS), on the relationship between: (1) modes of understanding children and music; (2) methodologies employed in fieldwork; and (3) the analysis of indigenous’ sonic-musical dimension. I outline the limits and possibilities of an ethnography that privileges the interaction of the researcher with children as social agents and central interlocutors, and highlights the value of using multiple communicative modalities as a methodological strategy of approach and dialogue from the researcher with the children and their sonic-musical practices.
