摘要:The study focuses on the financial management of the Hospital of the Annunziata in Naples and aims for a food for thought on the origins of the gift economy in Southern Italy during the Late Middle Ages. Thanks to the copious historical documentation, it has been possible to reconstruct and analyse: the remarkable financial assets, and the economic impact of the hospital, both in the city and in the kingdom; the economic and management competences of the hospital governors, their social class and geographical origin; the role played by the Royal Court and the Church in the construction process of a “Southern model” of charity network.
