摘要:Due to the value crisis experienced in modern societies of our time, value education activities targeting systematic value education at schools become more and more important. Literary Works such as epics, poems, and stories are priceless sources for value education. Being about public heroes with legendary qualities, Dede Qorqut Stories are also one of those major sources. The primary aim of this research is to attempt to determine the place of values in Dede Qorqut Stories. Thus, the research question is "Which values are used within Dede Qorqut Stories?" This is a qualitatively designed study. In this research, 12 Dede Qorqut Stories have been examined through content analysis as part of document analysis technique, and the reliability of the data has been secured. The values found in Dede Qorqut Stories are not only family unity, love, honesty, respect, esthetics, and bravery, but also honorableness, solidarity, patriotism, generosity, mercy, and other social and religious values. Considering that the values identified in Dede Qorqut Stories are part of several courses instructed at primary schools not only in Turkey, but also throughout the whole World, it won't be wrong to conclude that these values have a long history and bear universal significance. Based on the research findings, one can suggest that Dede Qorqut Stories can be fruitful to be used at primary school instructional activities designed under value education within related courses.
