摘要:Abstract Peer-mediation is a way of dispute resolution, facilitated by a neutral third student, that conflicting students negotiate their common problems face to face. In peer-mediation, making suggestions, determining the final decision and the responsibility of finding a solution acceptable to both sides primarily belong to students, the first side of the problem, who negotiate (Messing, 1993). Thus, peer mediation provides the transformation of owned potential into the peaceful performance in resolving the problem. Research was conducted to evaluate “peer mediation model through the eyes of mediator students”. The assessment was done using the semi-structured interview with 50 students, including 30 females and 20 males, who mediate in the peer-mediation program applied in a high school for six years in Izmir. One of the striking results of the study is that students expressed that they feel happiness, excitement and joy because they have been chosen by their classmates as a mediator of the class. In addition, they expressed that being selected made themselves feel the competence related to the responsibility, self-reliance, strength and problem solving. There is a need for peer-mediation model which is a peer-oriented dispute resolution method, in Turkish culture both in a more detailed and deeply way, and in terms of the evaluation of its common effects.
