摘要:This paper aims at discussing the meanings of recurrent concepts currently in the background of Foreign and Second Language Teaching and Learning in Applied Linguistics, such as methodology, syllabus and teaching language pedagogy, and their relationship with other concepts such as approach and paradigm. The discussion takes place in the so-called division among the “eras” of method, approach and pos-method in this specific field. This work also brings about some considerations from very important Foreign and Second Language Teaching and Learning specialists concerning the theme in focus (Richards; Rodgers, 1982, 2001; Prabhu, 1987, 1990; Kumaravadivelu, 1994, 2001; Almeida Filho, 1997, 2005). The idea of conceptual similarities between paradigm (Kuhn, 1962) and approach (Anthony, 1963), as developed in Borges (2009), adds an important dimension to this discussion by considering the distinction between approach and methodology.
