摘要：This article presents reflections concerning the value of information in information units. Presents the characteristics and types of archives, as well of information technologies applied in archives but also their general aspects, operation, concept, among other characteristics. The use of the CPRODWEB system in the process of automation of the SRTE-PB's archive aiming to present the benefits that this system offered in the archives of the institution studied. Used as instrument of investigation a questionnaire containing closed questions and multiple-choice ones to obtain data from the study. Presents as search result the satisfaction of officers who used the system because the applied automation promoted a search of files and documents more quickly and efficiently.
