摘要:The present article intends to bring some thoughts about illegal practices by the youth, mostly from the lower classes, in the context of speeding/racing cars and motorcycles. The knowledge transmitted in this universe opens to these young people the possibility, no matter how precarious, of an activity or an occupation that allows them, as individuals, group or collectivity, to face the low status and social invisibility of their lives and family backgrounds. In car races, in the midst of quite fluid boundaries between leisure and work, the intense sensory experience compensates for the pressures and uncertainties of daily life. In class, generation and gender interrelations taking risks becomes, in such practices, a component of identity-building and recognition, besides being a way to make a living.
