摘要:This article examines the processes of subjectivation engendered by the discourses and practices of a consumer protection policy. A research conducted in the PROCONs of Porto Alegre, aimed specifically to understand the social places, expressed by this policy, that are available for the subjects as citizen and consumer. Interviews were conducted with coordinators, coworkers and partners of the institution and analysis of its documents were performed. Data was analyzed using discourse analysis. The results showed the emphasis on the fragility of consumers and the focus on educational activities for them and for the traders. Discussion points to the possibilities of working for the consumer looking for their empowerment, which could lead to another posture as citizens, overcoming the notion of vulnerability.
