摘要：On the basis of literary translations, this study provides examples of how the function of discourse particles in a given language, in this case Bulgarian, can be better understood by examining cases where there is no discourse particle in the original, but one has been added by the translator. Clues to its function and validation of earlier analyses may then be found in the text and context of the original.
