摘要：This article tries to present depictions of criminality in the city of Fortaleza published in the local press in the 1920s. This particular decade witnessed phenomena like population growth, the larger presence of newspapers circulating among the literate people and an increasing feeling of fear about disorder and crime. The demographic growth was leading to these emotions. The press was able to gather such feelings, encouraging of a dread of imminent disorder which was clearly connected to the aim of selling crime news.
