摘要:This study explores the origin and development of Brazilian press as a modern private institution created both because of the demands of society and its specific material and symbolic resources. This study searches for the procedural and structural elements, which set its historical transformations and its several applications at certain time and space. These elements are treated in a theoretical field made by the premises, procedures and rationality given by the habermasian philosophical foundations of the very concept of public sphere and modernity; also in accordance to the dynamics of the culture (as object of cultural studies), condensed into the referential system which is internal to the communication process.
