摘要:Eça de Queiroz’s A cidade e as serras and the tale “Civilização” are inspired in the reading of Virgil’s first eclogue. This inspiration can be considered as a reaction against J. K. Huysmans’ decadent literature, but not only. Virgil symbolizes the regeneration, in a similar way to the social readings about Virgil by P. J. Proudhon.
