摘要:Brazilian radio, in the last eighty years, since its beginning, has created habits and fashions, overcome geographic limits, changed day-to-day attitudes, invented and consolidated different kinds of very successful programmes. In the 1940s and 1950s, the number of radio stations grew enormously, and they were so attractive to audiences that the period became known as “the golden age of Brazilian radio”. The radio series (or, more accurately, radio soap-operas) played an outstanding role in those years. More than half a century later, it is possible to say that the radio “soaps” are, at one and the same time, famous and unknown. The present study aims at recovering part of the genre’s history – a genre which is so important in the history of Brazilian radio itself.
