摘要:In this research , we addressed a meeting of cultures , with the aim of analyzing the relations of symbolic domination, between established and outsiders, in a financial institution (MULTIBANCO ) after the acquisition of another financial institution ( NOSSOBANCO ) , created in 2009 . The theoretical approach used for the analysis is the prospect of Elias and Scotson (2000 ) on the relations of symbolic domination and the processes of stigmatization of foreign social groups ( outsiders ), the concept of Robert Park (1928 ) on the marginal and Turner (1974 ) on liminality man. The research is qualitative in nature , and the data collected through semi-structured interviews with the staff of Back Office section of that institution ( MULTIBANCO). As results , we showed that the members of the firm are seen as those who threaten the established culture . Still , we draw attention to an aspect of the organizational dimension that should be considered in mergers and acquisitions : the figuration established - outsiders.
