摘要:The Brazilian jeitinho is a practice of improvisation that occurs within modern Brazilian institutions. Jeitinho is when someone is impaired by an unforeseen situation and seeks a solution outside of standard norms. Jeitinho is to find a way out. Nonverbal communication characterizes the possibility of jeitinho, which leads us to believe that Western theory has not fully captured Brazilian “thinking.” This article considers ritualistic and attentive ways of the body, expressed through postures and flexible attitudes, that deserve ethical respect. While resisting modern ideals, the jeitinho points to a Brazilian Utopia.
