摘要:In this study, it was aimed to determine whether there is a difference between the motivations of participation in sports and the motivation points of the students attending secondary schools in the central districts of Ankara and serving in school teams. 378 students ( age= 15.83 ± 0.93), consisting of 278 males ( age= 15.85±0.92) and 100 females ( age= 15.77±0.95), from 52 different primary schools (n9.class: 139, n10.class: 118, n11.class: 90, n12.class: 31) voluntarily participated in the study. “The Participation Motivation Scale” (1983) was developed by Gill, Gross and Huddleston and was adapted to Turkish by Oyar et all (2001). The scale, consisting of 30 items and 8 lower dimensions including the reasons why individuals participate in sports, was used as data collection tool. t test was used to analyze the gender difference in the motivation of the participation in sports and One-Way Variance Analysis (Anova) was used to determine the difference between the sport disciplines. Consequently, it was found out that in female sportsmen the most important reason of the participation in sports is “team spirit” and the least important reason of it is “friendship” and in the male sportsmen the most important reason is “skill improvement” and the least important reason is “friendship”. It was observed that in the motivations of the participation in sports of the secondary school-sportsmen participating in the research, there is a significant difference between female and male sportsmen in the lower dimension of “fun” in terms of gender in favour of female sportsmen. In addition, it was found out there are significant differences between the disciplines in the lower dimensions of “success/status”, “friendship” and “fun”. Key Words: Participation motivation, school teams, sport, student, gender.
