标题：A profissão de psicólogo no Rio Grande do Norte

摘要：The purpose of this paper is to update data on the situation of psychologists in Rio Grande do Norte (Northeastern Brazil), and focuses especially upon their practice. A questionnaire, composed by three parts (General data, Undergraduate studies and Professional activities) was applied to 192 psychologists (28,5% of population). The main results show that; the psychologists are mostly women (90%), less than 40 years old (67,2%), studied in the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (71%), and 55% have graduate studies. The main activities developed are; psychotherapy (59,9%), followed by academic activities, selection of personnel and psychological evaluation. The psychologists work in clinics (35,9%), public health units and educational institutions. Among other points, some questions related to psychotherapy as a main activity, the dispersion and the range of the activities developed by psychologists and the so-called innovations in psychology are discussed.
