摘要:OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the postoperative satisfaction of the patients who attended to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic, Faculty of Dentistry, Gazi University for dentofacial deformity correction and underwent orthognatic surgery. MATERIALS AND METHOD: Thirty-six subjects (20 female, 16 male) without any syndromes who received orthognatic surgery at least 6 months ago and whose orthodontic treatments were finished, were included in this study. Patients were divided into three groups according to the surgical technique, as Lefort 1 osteotomy (Group 1), bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (Group 2) and bimaxillary surgery (Group 3). Patients were asked to complete a form including demographic information, anamnesis and Post Surgical Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSPSQ), a questionnaire which is used to assess patient satisfaction after surgical operation. The statistical analysis was performed using a statistical software package at a significance level of p<0.05. RESULTS: There was no statistically significant difference among groups in terms of demographic variables. A high level of postoperative satisfaction was found in the majority of patients. The majority of the patients reported a high level of satisfaction for the functional and psychological outcomes of orthognathic surgery. CONCLUSION: It was observed that orthognathic surgery had a positive impact on postoperative satisfaction in the evaluated patients.
