摘要：An exquisitely polite Turkish phrase, traditionally used by generous hosts at Ramadancelebrations, has through literal misunderstanding become an emblematic symbol forexcesses in the Ottoman exploitation of the peoples of the empire. It is well entrenched inBulgarian usage, but also found in the writings of Western travellers in the Ottoman Empire.
