摘要：Water quality is a vital concern for mankind as it is directly linked with human welfare. With this knowledge, thepresent study was performed to assess the potability of drinking water in Mysore city. Water samples from differentdrinking water sources were collected and analyzed for physico-chemical and bacteriological parameters. Most of the watersamples showed fecal contamination, total coliform count (MPN/100 ml) ranged between 2 and 1600 organisms/100 mlrespectively. Raw water of the river showed fecal contamination of Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, processedwater with Salmonella typhi and sewage mixed water with Salmonella typhi, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Citrobacterfreundii. The results obtained were statistically analyzed.
