摘要:Friction stir welding (FSW) is a solid state welding process in which coalescence is achieved byfrictional heat combined with pressure. In this project effect of friction stir welding on microstructure and mechanicalproperties of aluminium 6063 alloy is investigated .The main work is to investigate the different parameters toolrotational speed and tool transverse speed which enhance properties through FSW. In this process, the properties of thematerial are enhanced during visco-plastic deformation. The microstructure examination is done with opticalmicroscope and mechanical properties tensile and hardness tests. The corrosion resistance properties are tested by thesalt spray corrosion test. Microstructure and mechanical properties are correlated for the chosen alloy before and afterFSW. The experimental results showed the lower the ratio of rotation speed and weld speed, the narrower the softenedzone and the higher tensile strength. The corrosion resistances of the welded metal rotational speed 560rpm withtraverse speed 40mm/min are high.
