摘要：Gesture recognition technology deals with the interpretation of gestures using various mathematicalalgorithms to develop a user-friendly human computer interaction (HCI) interface. Recognition of gestures aims atcreation of a system that can effectively translate specific human gestures to convey meaningful information forapplications such as home automation, sign language interpretation, and device control etc. In this paper, we propose afast algorithm for recognition of a limited set of gestures from hand images of different skin tones. Our approachcontains steps for applying pre-processing techniques, segmenting the hand region and finally classifying the gestureusing MATLAB. The system detects skin regions based on a set of skin detection criteria which helps to filter out thenon-skin regions and extract the hand shape using morphological operations.
