  • 摘要:The corrosion resistant coatings usedconventionally are having some limitations likedegradation of the coatings and improper coatings whichmay lead to pitting corrosion. The nanocompositecorrosion resistant coating can overcome this problem.The SiO2 nanoparticles are synthesized by ball millingprocess. The nanoparticles are mixed micron sized copperpowder and converted into a composite. The compositematerials are made into pellets using UTM. The pelletsare used as targets to coat the mild steel substrate usingsputtering process. SEM analysis indicated that theelements in the copper based nanocomposites arehomogeneously distributed and agglomeration wasobserved. The SiO2 and copper based nanocomposites arecharacterized using AFM, XRD and SEM. The corrosionresistance of nanocomposite coatings is tested usingweight loss method and electrochemical method.
