  • 摘要:Speech signals are often necessary to perform denoising in speech processing system operating in highlynoisy environment. Mobile phones are often used in noisy environments such as noisy street, cafe, or in a movingcar/train. The attribute of speech can be degraded by the background noise. This problem is of critical consequencebecause background noise is particularly damaging to speech articulation for people with hearing loss and hearing aidsusers. The wavelet transform plays an vital role in signal analysis and widely used in many applications such as signaldetection and Denoising. The basic idea of the paper is to estimate the uncorrupted speech from the distorted or noisyspeech signal and is also referred to as speech “Denoising”. There are various techniques to assist renovate speech fromnoisy distortions. In this paper Wavelet Packet Transform (WPT) is one of the most promising techniques used insignal processing, due to its ability to decompose signals and to remove the background noise in speech signal. Theobjective of the paper is to separate the noise that is present in the original speech signal in various environments ofmobile phone users. To enrich the speech signal, Wavelet based Spectral Subtraction (WSS) is introduced to reducethe background interference. The extracted signal will be used to identify the type of noise. The WSS utilizes both lowand high frequency components. The performance of WSS will be evaluated and calculated by Signal to Noise Ratio(SNR).
