摘要:An attempt has been made to simulate the floating cum tilted-wick type solar still in the climaticconditions of Chennai and Visakapatnam. The still has been designed, fabricated and experimentally analyzed in theDepartment of Physics, Karpagam University, Coimbatore, India. The parametric influence on the performance of theproposed system has been found and presented. The results have shown that the performance of the system is mainlyinfluenced by the water mass flow rate of salt water in the tilted-wick portion, absorptivity of the wick surface and theintensity of solar radiation. It is also found that the performance of the proposed floating cum tilted-wick type solarstill is better in both Chennai and Visakapatnam and the design is suitable for large scale installations to producedistilled water with less maintenance.
