摘要：In this paper, the procedure of the regional planning of Wuchang County using aerial photographs and GIStechnique are described. By interpretating and analysing the aerial photographs. the land resources ofWuchang County, such as arable land, water, forest, traffic and waste land, are investigated. Based on thesequential photographs and auxiliary data, the dynamic change of arable land, water surface and the expansionof Zhifang town and Jin kou town are analysed quantitatively and qualitatively. According to the factorsof ecosystem, economy and environment, the suitable use of land resources are evaluated, such as thepresent situation and construction, and the suitable land for planting orange trees are analysed. The database of land resources of Wuchang County has been established on micro-computer. The mathematic model ofland. population and economy are established and the tendency of development are established.The results show that a great deal .of static and dynamic information can be extracted from airphotos andfurther processed by GIS and that they are very useful for the regional planning, management and decisionmarking.
