- 摘要:edevelopedanirrigationmappingmethodologythatreliesonremotelysensedinputsfromMODerateResolutionImagingSpectroradiometer(MODIS)instrument,globallyextensiveancillarysourcesofgriddedclimateandagriculturaldataandonanadvancedimageclassificationalgorithm.Inthefirststep,weusedclimate-basedindicesofsurfacemoisturestatusandamapofcultivatedlandstoprovidepotential,first-cutatglobalirrigation.Todetectactualirrigation,inthesecondstep,weusedspatio-temporalandspectralsignaturesfromMODISremotelysenseddata.Inparticular,weexploredthreetypesofirrigation-relatedindices:i)Annual–whereweexploitedthedifferenceinannualgreennessvariabilitybetweenirrigatedandnon-irrigatedcropsandrelatedthisdifferencetoprecipitationavailability;ii)Spectral–whereweexploitedavegetationindex(GreenRatioIndex)thatissensitivetochlorophyllcontent;andiii)Inter-annual–whereweexploredthedifferencesininter-annualchangesinvegetationgreennessassociatedwithprecipitationbetweenirrigatedandnon-irrigatedcrops.Inthethirdstep,wecombinedourpotentialirrigationdataset,remotelysensedindices,andtrainingexampleswithinasupervisedclassificationtoolbasedonanon-parametricdecision-treealgorithmtomakeabinary(i.e.irrigatedvs.non-irrigated)irrigatedagriculturemap.AtestofirrigationmappingprocedureinapilotstudyoverthecontinentalUSproducedahighspatialresolution(1km)mapofirrigatedareaswithbetterthan80percentmapaccuracyandexpectedspatialpatternssuchasastrongeast-westdividewithmostirrigatedareasconcentratedonthearidwestalongdrylowlandvalleys.Futureimprovementsofthemethodwillincludeestimationofsub-pixelpresenceofirrigationusingremotely-sensedskintemperaturemeasurements
