  • 摘要:The aim of the paper is to examine first year students’ level of knowledge about the internet. Informatics as a school subject is implemented as an extracurricular activity in the first four grades and as an elective course in the second four grades of elementary school. At high schools, the implementation of Informatics depends on the type of high school education. The number of Informatics lessons that students attended varies. The focus of our interest is to find out how relevant that is for their present knowledge. The research covers terms about internet included in the national curriculum. Though factual knowledge was examined, the fact that today the use of the internet is a part of students’ everyday life was taken into account. The research target groups were first year students of Teacher education study at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split and students of Informatics at Faculty of Science in Split. One research result was unexpected and therefore interesting. The number of years that students attended Informatics lessons and their level of knowledge are not related. We can conclude that Informatics should be taught systematically and uniformly. It should be implemented as a regular course at elementary schools, in order to develop digital competence from an early age.
