摘要：Road extraction is the process of extractingroads from high resolution imagery and the process ofextraction gives more accurate and reliable information forgeographic information systems. Mainly the highresolution images are of two types: Multispectral imageand Panchromatic image. Multispectral images are the onethat captures image data at specific frequencies orwavelength interval. Each individual image usually has thesame physical area but have different spectral band andthe wavelengths are separated using filters. Whilepanchromatic image is a single band image generallydisplayed as shades of gray and sensitive to all visiblecolors. For efficient identification, high spatial and spectralinformation in a single image are needed. Hence fusion ofmultispectral and panchromatic images is needed to conveymore information. This paper presents a survey of variousroad extraction techniques which are used to extract roadsfrom high resolution images
