摘要:The main objective of this study was to see whether preparation influences thelearners’ reading comprehension of IELTS and TOEFL? Also as a subsidiary question,this study tried to find answer(s) to the following question: Does getting a high scoreimply enhancement in the reading comprehension ability?To this end, sixty EFL learnerswere selected to take part in a preparation program in which they were instructeddifferent techniques and strategies to deal withthe reading section of TOEFL and IELTStests. Although the participants' scores enhanced in the post tests, the preparationprogram did differently on these two tests (IELTS and TOEFL). Generally, findingsshowed that the preparation effect was more visible on performance of the IELTS readingtest than on that of the TOEFL reading test. The IELTS preparation groupsignificantlyoutperformed the TOEFL preparation group on the IELTS reading test. Incontrast, the TOEFL preparation group performed better than the IELTSpreparationgroup on the TOEFL reading test, but this difference was not significant. These differenteffects of test preparation on test performance are clarified in the current study findings.
